Episode 32: Enough
Tuesday Feb 17, 2026
Tuesday Feb 17, 2026
The feeling of not being "enough" is a complex issue that many wives and mothers experience, and it's often rooted in a combination of societal expectations, personal experiences, and the inherent challenges of these roles. The modern environment often presents a myriad of demands and pressures on women, making it easy to feel overwhelmed and inadequate. These feelings can stem from a variety of sources, including external pressures to live up to idealized versions of motherhood and partnership, internalizing messages about what a "good" wife or mother should be, and the sheer volume of responsibilities that often fall to women in these roles. The constant juggling of tasks, the emotional labor involved in managing family life, and the potential for sleep deprivation and isolation can all contribute to a pervasive sense of not measuring up. Additionally, comparing oneself to others, whether through social media or personal interactions, can amplify these feelings. It's easy to see curated highlights of other people's lives and feel that one's own efforts are falling short. Ultimately, these feelings are rarely a reflection of a woman's actual capabilities or how much she is contributing. Instead, they are often a symptom of the immense pressure and the unrealistic expectations placed on wives and mothers in today's society.
